Umaria. In a shocking crime spree on Wednesday night, Umaria district witnessed three back-to-back robberies, followed by a violent attack on a police constable. The constable, who was struck with an iron rod, sustained critical injuries and has been referred to Jabalpur for advanced treatment.

Three Crimes, One Night — A Coordinated Pattern

According to police sources, the incidents occurred within a short time span, indicating the involvement of a coordinated criminal group:

  • Loot from a highway petrol pump operator

  • ₹47,000 snatched from a harvester owner working in the fields

  • ₹5,000 looted from a resident of Lodha village

The sequence and proximity of locations strongly suggest a single gang operating through the night.

SP Vijay Bhagwani Responds With Full Transparency

Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhagwani addressed the situation promptly and openly. He confirmed:

  • The injured policeman has suffered serious head injuries, and his condition is critical.

  • Clear evidence indicates the involvement of an active criminal gang.

  • All three incidents are being investigated as part of one linked crime series.

  • Multiple teams have already been formed, and the search for the accused has intensified.

SP Bhagwani stated:
“The incident is serious. But police are working with full force. All facts are clear to us, and the accused will be arrested soon.”

The attacks and robberies took place in the Kotwali police station limits, specifically around:

  • Pipariya

  • Lodha

  • Highway zone near Rajvi Dhaba

These areas lie along important transit routes, making them vulnerable to rapid movement by criminal gangs.

This chain of crimes has raised strong concerns among citizens due to:
